"Energy expert" Sarah Palin says Alaska supplies 20% of US energy

Palin claims Alaska "produces nearly 20 percent of the U.S. domestic supply of energy." That's not true.

This lie was repeated by McCain and House Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO)

Palin claims her National security qualifications are that she is an energy expert:
"I want you to not lose sight of the fact that energy is a foundation of national security."

Factcheck:

Alaska's share of domestic energy production was 3.5 percent, according to the official figures kept by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. And if by "supply" Palin meant all the energy consumed in the U.S., and not just produced here, then Alaska's production accounted for only 2.4 percent.

I guess on of the beauties of political blogging with the McCain campaign is having the old lies that have been told still up as you post the new lies. Its like lying with a panoramic view! I guess he was hoping that no one would check.
